A resort-style accommodation to set a new benchmark for FIFO life.
A new standard will be set for fly-in, fly-out living in Australia’s mining and resources industry when Mineral Resources begins construction of two resort-style accommodation villages, changing the culture of FIFO living and encouraging more women and couples to live and work on site.
Onslow Iron project in the Pilbara recently received an order for 750 rooms, each measuring 45 square metres – three times the size of traditional FIFO accommodation.
Construction on the 500-room Ken’s Bore Resort will begin in the first half of this year 2023, followed by the 250-room Onslow Resort in the second half of 2023.
They are building 10 four-bedroom homes in Onslow to attract more families to relocate to the town and become a part of it. The Onslow Resort will be located close to the town site so it can integrate with the local community.
As part of the Onslow Iron project, around 35 million tonnes of iron ore will be shipped annually from mid-2024, creating an estimated 2100 construction jobs and 6300 indirect jobs.
Milieu Creative designed the resorts, as well as Mineral Resources state-of-the-art headquarters in Osborne Park.
It features a restaurant, café, a 1000 square meter fitness center, a wellness center and a creche.
The resort-style accommodation will be provided at Mineral Resources other sites in Western Australia, starting with the Mt Marion lithium operation near Kalgoorlie later this year.
