Position Overview:

The Workshop Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the workshop, with a primary focus on the welding and fabrication of aluminium products. This role ensures that all work is executed efficiently, safely, and meets the required quality standards. The Foreman will lead a team of technicians and tradespeople, coordinate tasks, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget. They will ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, maintain equipment, and create a productive work environment. Additionally, the position includes supervising work schedules, providing technical guidance to the team, and reporting on progress to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of 8 staff members
  • Experience and knowledge of Quality Control systems, including ISO and ISO
  • Proficient in welding processes such as GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW
  • Experience with fabrication processes, including brake presses, guillotines, jigging tables, punches, and laser programming
  • Skilled in rolling and forming techniques using rollers and benders
  • Experienced in interpreting drawings, creating cutting lists, and marking out complex components
  • Proficient with various materials, including Aluminium, Carbon Steel, and Stainless Steel
  • Post-trade qualifications, including programming and welding tickets
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience in training apprentices and mentoring others
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Experienced in workshop management, including consumables handling, stocktaking and more

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Engineering Fabrication Trade Qualification – Australia, with over 5 years of post-trade experience
  • White Card / Construction Card
