Your new role

A great opportunity is available for a Wellbeing Officer to join the Curtin Medical School on a part-time (0.5 FTE) basis in a fixed-term (12 months) contract.

This is a fundamental role where you will make a valuable difference to the wellbeing and training of our future doctors and be able to give back to society. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a student support system for Medical students, including developing a range of strategies to help them manage personal, social and academic issues.

This is a varied role, where you will maintain a triage and support system to address students needs in an efficient manner and partner with a range of stakeholders including Unit, Year and Course Coordinators, Curtins Psychological and Counselling Services and our Curtin Connect team regarding student wellbeing.

Selection Criteria

  1. Completion of a degree within Health or Social Science, with relevant experience.
  2. A strong interest in mental health.
  3. The ability to assess the needs of distressed, vulnerable, or at-risk individuals and link them to the appropriate support services as required.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  5. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage with a range of stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria

  • Training in Mental Health First Aid or similar.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the demands of study in a competitive course such as Medicine.
