Lindsay Transport is currently seeking a weekend shift manager to join the team in our Melbourne Depot.

About the role:

 

You will be responsible for the successful management of the day-to-day operational activity ensuring the efficient allocation of freight, labour, and equipment to maximise fleet utilisation and efficiency, while exceeding customer expectations.

 

Roster- Friday to Monday 4am start times

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


Assist and support the retrieval and imaging of all proof of Delivery (POD) documentation.

Day to Day management of Operations allocators and associated drivers and forklift operators

Ensure all deliveries take place in a timely manner and where applicable in accordance with designated time slots

Allocation of drivers and/or loading staff and equipment

Raise and reconcile freight bills

Liaise with NTO other ops teams, depot admin teams, floor staff and maintenance

Understand and implement Safe Operating Procedures

Understanding of the chain of responsibility

Knowledge and monitoring of fatigue and mass in accordance with legislative requirements

Leading the planning and building of loads in line with customer expectations of deliveries

Manage and implement continuous improvement across all sections of your responsibility.

Monitor and report on the performance of the fleet in accordance with specific KPI’s.

Manage and enforce operational conformance in accordance with the organisations operation policies and procedures.

Develop, implement and monitor procedures to ensure the capture of all relevant data relating to pallet traffic in and out of the depot.

Work in conjunction with the Operations and Administration Manager to ensure all consignments bought into the depot are accompanied by appropriate paperwork and correctly charged out.

Liaising between the office and floor staff to ensure correct loading and allocation of freight.

Responsible for ensuring that drivers complete and submit all required paperwork correctly.

Manage retrieval of Work Diary Pages from drivers.

Liaise with Driver Trainers regarding any additional training needs for drivers.

 

Preferred Qualification and Training Required:

  • Car licence
  • Certificate IV in Frontline Management
  • Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics TLI
  • Administer a fatigue risk management system TLIF

Previous experience in the transport and logistics industry is highly regarded but not essential.
