HammondCare provides care primarily through hospitals, residential care homes and home-based care as well as services for dementia support, community palliative care, rehabilitation, positive aging and older persons mental health.
HammondCare has a strong volunteer programme with over 750 dedicated volunteers. They support residents and our team by helping with various activitiescooking, nail care, arts and crafts, exercise programs, pastoral care, and day excursions, just to name a few. They also engage in simple pleasures, such as chatting over a cup of tea or taking a walk, connecting through shared interests and life experiences.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of our residents. The role of Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for developing and leading a volunteer service whose key focus is the people we care for.
This role is based at our residential site at Horsley and is a permanent part-time role 3 days per week (flexible with days, one day must be a Wednesday) or shorter hours spread across 4 days.

Key Responsibilities include
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to build a volunteer service that compliments the needs of HammondCare Residential service and clients
- Attracting, recruiting and onboarding volunteers, matching their interests with suitable opportunities
- Managing and mentoring volunteers, supporting them with both online and onsite face-to-face training as well as coordinating social volunteer events
- Maintaining accurate records in our volunteer database (Salesforce) and following established processes and guidelines for Volunteer Services
About you:
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCares Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- Demonstrated experience where relationship building is a prominent component of your role
- Demonstrated aptitude for team leadership
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build rapport quickly and work with people at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong influencing skills
- Preferred experience in recruitment particularly of volunteer teams
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- Empathic and compassionate
