YHAC also operate a fully accredited 24-hour residential aged care facility.

Transport Officer

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Transport Officer who will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and respectful transport services to clients of our Aboriginal health services. This role involves transporting clients to and from medical appointments, community events, and other health-related activities. The Transport Officer will ensure that all journeys are timely and are conducted in a manner that respects the cultural needs of our clients.

Working Arrangements:

  • Full Time Permanent Position
  • 6-month Probationary Period
  • Day Shifts Monday – Friday
  • $ Per Hour

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Current valid SA Driver Licence (minimum of Class “C” or equivalent).
  • Excellent driving record with knowledge of local and regional roads.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a respectful and caring approach.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and maintenance.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Current National Police Check, DHS WWCC, and DHS Aged Care Screening.
  • COVID-19 and Flu Vaccinations not mandatory but highly encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide transport services for clients to attend medical appointments, community activities, and other essential services.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of clients during transport.
  • Assist clients in and out of the vehicle as required, ensuring special needs are accommodated.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including times, destinations, and passenger details.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance of the vehicle, including refueling, cleanliness, and reporting any issues.
  • Build respectful and positive relationships with clients, understanding and respecting cultural sensitivities.
  • Communicate effectively with the health services team to coordinate transport needs.
  • Adhere to all road and safety regulations and organisation policies.
  • Assist with general administration as required.
