About Your Opportunity

Fixed term opportunity for 2 years, commencing in mid-2023.

Seqwater is committed to providing career opportunities within the water industry. Our Next Generation Trainee Program provides participants the opportunity to earn while they learn.

Trainees – Network Operations, undertake a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Network) whilst also working within a team of experienced Operations Supply Systems professionals.

As a Trainee – Network Operations, you will support and assist in responding in emergency situations to optimise supply systems to ensure continuity of supply; and provide operational input and support to allow effective and efficient implementation of continuous improvements in the operation of the bulk water supply system. You will work under supervision to undertake the following:

  • Assist in monitoring and under supervision, control the supply of water across a large geographic region using the SCADA system within the Networks Control Centre.
  • Work within, and apply Network Operations procedures, to monitor the supply system and ensure customer standard of service are achieved.
  • Assist in monitoring water supply levels and water quality across the Network, escalating issues or anomalies where appropriate
  • Assist in monitoring, controlling, and operating water supply Network, responding to, and actioning alarms, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in providing operational advice in support to ensure efficient utilisation and reduce supply and quality risks.

This position may require the successful applicant to participate in an on-call roster and to respond to call-outs at any time outside of normal working hours, once reaching a suitable level of competence.

 

About you

You have a keen interest in maths and science and like to use these skills to solve problems. You have a good awareness of safety and will follow all safe work practices and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others. Sound computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office is also very desirable for this position.

In addition to the Certificate III, you will be willing to undertake a range of other training deemed necessary to carry out the duties of a Network Operator.  

A drivers licence or the ability to attain quickly is a must, along with a willing to travel around between Seqwater’s sites and assets.

This position has a starting salary at $42,124.55 plus superannuation, with remuneration increasing upon completion of various milestones throughout the trainee program. By completion of the program the salary will increase up to $61,761.92 per annum plus superannuation.
