The opportunity: 

The Tax team is a part of the Investment Operations Department. The teams primary responsibility is to ensure the integrity and completeness of information on each accounts investments and to facilitate the production of accurate tax statements for individual IDPS clients and across the Super Fund. 

This includes processing of adjustments to cost bases, applying tax components to dividends /distributions, and processing of fund manager fee rebates. The team is also responsible the production of annual tax statements. 

You will: 

  • Investigate and respond to taxation and technical queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide significant contribution to the year-end tax project
  • Stay abreast of any taxation changes and assist with enhancements as required
  • Review and process taxable components for income received on platform
  • Process complex transactions in Client accounts
  • Prepare special purpose reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Process cost base adjustment and non-resident, No-TFN withholding cases
  • Lead ad hoc tasks or projects as specified by Manager or Team Lead

You have: 

  • Strong working knowledge of ASX securities (including warrants, LICs, ETFs), International assets,bonds, managed funds and other unlisted investments
  • Understanding of taxation implications for different income and capital transactions and impact across different entity types
  • Self-motivated with a keen desire to work with the team to achieve common goals
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactively generate creative solutions to problems and ways to improve our services
  • Attention to detail including clarifying the detail of tasks, checking inputs outputs for accuracy and completeness, following established procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills – Adjusting language and terminology to the characteristics and needs of the audience
  • Experience with Excel and MS Office products
  • IDPS / Super platform or finance industry experience highly regarded
  • 5 years experience in a taxation focused role
  • CA or CPA qualified highly regarded
