About the opportunity

Westgold are on the lookout for an analytical, strategic Technical Services Superintendent on a permanent 8 days on, 6 days off roster. This newly created position will report into the Manager of Mining and will assist with securing the future of underground mining operations through the development and provision of technical and planning standard, procedures and direction to achieve an optimal mine production profile.

The Beta Hunt land package includes significant exploration opportunities with the potential to substantially increase Mineral Resources and Reserves at Beta Hunt. There are numerous gold zones, including Western Flanks, A Zone, Larkin, East Alpha and the new Fletcher zone providing significant potential for gold Mineral Resource expansion at low cost and near mine infrastructure.

The role includes

• Lead the Technical Services Team to align with the operational goals of the business, providing support across both mining operations and commercial functions at Beta Hunt
• Foster and drive a centralized and cohesive vision across both engineering panels, ensuring everybody is aligned with the plan
• Collaborate with the team to identify and implement initiatives that enhance departmental processes, generate cost saving opportunities, boost revenue, and optimize operations
• Oversee the development and delivery of medium to short term schedules
• Ensure the team is consistent and regular in their reporting, working closely with site teams to meet deadlines
• Provide expert advice and guidance to support long term decision making by the organization within own fields of expertise by participating in and managing feasibility studies as required within existing mines and proposed projects
• Provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for the team
• Mine optimization and identifying business improvement opportunities, including future operations and processes
• Support and manage projects and deliver them to key mine operations personnel

What do I need?

• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution
• Demonstrated experience working in an underground hard rock mining environment in an engineering capacity
• Good leadership and communication skills across all levels of the business
• Ability to prepare reports and demonstrated excellent analytical skills
• High level planning skills and attention to detail
• Expert with Deswik CAP, UGDB, Sched and Vent Sim
• Sound knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspect Act & Regulations
• Exposure to different mining methods and associated economics
• Current C Class Western Australia Drivers License
• WA Underground FCMM desirable
