Superintendent – Maintenance

With nearly 6,000 employees, the Byrnecut Group is a full-service underground mining contractor, providing services to major mine owners throughout Australia and Internationally. We operate a multi-million dollar fleet of specialised underground mining equipment across multiple continents and conditions.

We are currently looking for experienced Underground Maintenance Foreman to join us across our WA operations.

Responsibilities/Duties: 

• Hold and attend Maintenance / Mining Pre-Shift Meetings each shift
• Maintain a positive safety, quality and performance culture within the maintenance department consistent with the purpose, ambition and core values of BAPL
• To ensure manning levels are at an adequate level to maintain availability of equipment
• Conduct KPI performance reviews on both mechanical and personnel
• Provide clear leadership and standards across the maintenance department through visual leadership behaviours, clear communication to crew leaders and work teams
• Ensuring the strong support is in place to enable completion of high-quality incident investigations, to identify and prevent recurrence of incidents and improve safety leadership and culture within the maintenance department on the mine site
• Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of BAPL maintenance management systems
• Identifying maintenance requirements and improvements
• Managing contractors to complete maintenance projects
• Executing and supervising all maintenance work both planned and unplanned
• Ensure all maintenance tasks performed are within the compliance of safe operating procedure and standard job guidelines
• Support and train maintenance personnel to provide a safe, efficient and effective work place including participating in the technical and performance evaluation of maintenance personnel and provide constructive feedback to improve their competency
• Oversee ordering adequate spares, materials and consumables
• Initiate and participate in equipment and job status handovers with Mine Supervisors and cross shift operators

Requirements:

• Relevant trade certificates
• Exposure to underground mining equipment essential
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Statutory Supervisor Ticket
• Proven experience in leading teams
• Ability to make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Ability to act as a key focal point / subject matter experts
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Have a good understanding of general OHS
• Hold a current Dangerous Goods Security Card (WA Sites only)
• A valid Australian Manual Drivers licence
• Maintain good relationships with other personnel, including Byrnecut and client personnel
