Specialist Accountant

We are currently seeking a Specialist Accountant to join our Finance team based in Brisbane. This role will play a key part in supporting Goldings mining operations, requiring a proactive, motivated, and highly organised professional who thrives in a dynamic, project-based environment.

Strong communication and relationship skills are essential, as youll partner closely with operational leaders to provide financial insights and commercial guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounting

• Work collaboratively with Specialist Accountants and the Finance Manager to produce accurate and timely month-end reporting packs.
• Partner with Mining General Managers, Project Managers, and Maintenance Managers to support the preparation of month-end financials and variance commentary.
• Assist Project Managers with monthly revenue and cost reforecasts, including budgets.
• Provide support to Financial Accountants and Finance Administration Officers on a range of finance and accounting matters.

General

• Deliver a Finance Business Partner function across Goldings mining projects.
• Provide financial and commercial support to project leadership, including General Managers, Project Managers, Commercial Managers, and Maintenance Managers.
• Develop a strong understanding of project contractual arrangements to identify and advise on variances and potential issues.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process for mining projects.
• Identify and help implement business improvement initiatives, ensuring successful adoption across projects.
• Provide coaching and advice to project leaders to improve the quality and consistency of accounting, commercial, and administrative activities.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports, data analysis, and other information as required.
• Ensure consistent application of Goldings business practices, processes, and accounting policies across all projects.

Personal Attributes and Experience

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline, with CPA or CA qualification.
• Demonstrated management accounting experience within a project-based business.
• Proven capability in forecasting and financial modelling, with advanced Excel skills.
• Strong, hands-on experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• High level of analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
