Show Operator & Equipment Technician

The Opportunity

The Show Operator & Equipment Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of lighting, laser projection, sound, special effects equipment, and basic networking systems for our Illumina Light Show. This role emphasizes the upkeep, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of all technical and network systems to ensure optimal performance throughout the show’s run as well as maintaining a safe work environment. The operator will collaborate with technical and creative teams to sustain the quality and consistency of the show.

This role requires you to move and live on the island at Kingfisher Bay Resort.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience operating and maintaining lighting, laser projection, sound, special effects equipment, and basic networking systems in a live event or performance setting.
  • Technical knowledge of laser projection systems, including setup, alignment, and safety procedures.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles, including setting up routers, switches, and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical and networking equipment efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality production standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, according to the show schedule.
  • Certification or training in laser safety and operation. (Preferred)
  • Experience with large-scale multimedia productions involving laser projections and networked systems. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of special effects equipment, such as fog machines or pyrotechnics. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with DMX control systems and networking for show control. (Preferred)
