About the role

As a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, this role will have the opportunity to improve and optimise the operation and reliability of our Ammonia/Ammonium Nitrate production plants and assets. You will contribute your engineering expertise to improve plant performance and process efficiencies.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to improve equipment performance and reliability, while ensuring a safe working environment.

Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Promote a strong safety culture in line with Safe Personal, Safe Process and Safe Place initiative.
  • Be the subject matter expert in troubleshooting rotating plant equipment, improvement projects, including resolving operational and maintenance issues.
  • Provide engineering support to operational teams in matters associated with rotating equipment.
  • Provide engineering support to condition monitoring including Vibration analysis programs, Lube oil and Ultrasonic analysis. Note – Bentley System1 experience preferred.
  • Develop maintenance strategies, preventive maintenance program; coordinate and manage equipment overhauls; planning; implementation and completion of scheduled and unscheduled shutdown maintenance.
  • Provide assistance to internal stakeholders and external contractors as required.
  • Lead planned/unplanned outages, oversee rotating equipment start up and shutdown.
  • Provide maintenance support to develop work scope, QA/QC, quality assurance on critical rotating equipment, planning process for maintenance execution, spare part management to ensure availability reducing business risk.
  • Develop /review design specification data to enable cost estimates, detailed design and project management for small and medium capital projects.
  • Monitoring compliance of mechanical work and equipment in line with statutory requirements for Major Hazard Facilities.
  • Lead investigation teams to solve re-occurring equipment failures.
  • Participate in safety, production, cost and improvement ideas.

We are seeking the following skills and experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification, preferably with plant operations or maintenance experience (8 to 10 years) within the oil and gas or chemicals industries.
  • Possess practical and technical knowledge of rotating equipment such as turbines, gearboxes, compressors, pumps, fan, drums, conveyer and heat exchangers.
  • Proven analytical skills that you apply to resolve complex issues of rotating equipment and systems such as governor valves, anti-surge systems, condensing, dry gas seal systems and lube oil systems.
  • Ability to analyse and diagnose vibration issues utilising vibration diagnostics tools.
  • Familiarity with standards such as API 612, API 617, API 614, Balancing standard ISO , ISO , etc.
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance management, planning/scheduling, condition monitoring techniques and failure analysis methodology including rotating equipment
  • Significant rotating equipment experience to support Operation and Maintenance, Turnarounds, Start up and Shutdown activities.
  • Experience in managing rotating equipment breakdown and lead multi-discipline team, in-house and external contractors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
