- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $125,488 to $138,386 super and annual leave loading (Environment Officer Class 10)
This role is located within the Grants Branch in the Office of the Secretary. The Grants Branch supports the NSW Environmental Trust in the administration and governance of grant programs, in addition to DCCEEW-funded coast, estuary and flood grant programs.
About the role
The Major Projects program team are responsible for co-designing and managing long-term, multi-million-dollar grant projects on behalf of the NSW Environmental Trust. With a strong focus on the natural environment, our projects range from funding innovative biocontrol research to supporting threatened species and managing feral animals.
Projects funded under the Major Projects program are designed to tackle large-scale and/or complex environmental issues. The goal is to maximise environmental outcomes in New South Wales by investing in projects that are high priority, cost-effective, collaborative, and designed in consultation with subject matter experts.
As a Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing the management of grants funded under the Major Projects program. This includes project scoping and design, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, dealing with complex issues, evaluation of projects and contribution to continual process improvement.

About You
We are looking for a candidate who is strategically minded and conscientious, with strong project management skills.
You will have:
- Strong communication and organisational skills will be key to successfully delivering results
- Sound judgement and attention to detail when managing complex and high-value grant projects
- Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities to support team and branch deliverables
- An interest in improving systems and processes
- Strong relationship building and engagement skills to support high level negotiations with partners and stakeholders, and effective project management
- Experience related to natural resource management and/or grants management will be highly regarded.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in providing advice on complex/sensitive/contentious issues to senior management or ministerial level.
