The Opportunity 
SEE Civil are looking to welcome an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Cairns on a slope stabilisation and cyclone recovery project in the Kuranda Range.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership in the planning, coordination and supervision of technical aspects of construction projects. The SPE is responsible for ensuring that project targets within the disciplines of quality assurance, project administration, financial reporting, health and safety and program are achieved.
Responsibilities 

  • Meeting project milestones and ensuring project compliance.
  • Ensuring effective programming and construction methodologies.
  • Conducting quality assurance.
  • Financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Project administration.
  • Responsible for assisting the Project Manager in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, integration, and closing of the civil projects assigned to them.
  • Responsible for assisting the Project Manager in the effective programming and construction methodologies of all site works. Responsible for project compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Responsible for managing the overall process of design documentation and its control e.g. drawings, specifications and reports. Participates actively in the development of the project design. Participates in the process of design input review/ analysis e.g. statutory requirements, Client requirements, strategy requirements, financial and constructability for nominated design packages.
  • Responsible for the coordination of employees, subcontractors, procurement, plant and equipment required for the projects. Provide advice, support and assistance to project staff and clients in relation to any technical and/or complex problems that may arise during project life. Is responsible for the engineering construction of all civil projects that are completed by the company.
  • Responsible and accountable for maintaining the quality system, appropriate registers and ensuring all relevant quality documentation is completed as required by the IMS and contractual obligations.
  • Exercise financial control over expenditure items nominated by the project manager, working closely with the project team on costing changes to the project scope and/or pricing of variations to ensure the project meets financial goals.
  • Ensuring safe working conditions for staff and subcontractors.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
  • Construction White Card.
  • Background in Engineering, Construction and Delivery processes and experience in project delivery.
  • Proven management skills, practices, and planning ability.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks and maintaining focus on priorities.
  • Highly effective skills in negotiating, evaluating, and administering contracts, specifications, Australian standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Computer literacy, particularly experience working with MS Excel and MS Project applications.
  • Highly effective planning, organising and problem solving skills together with the ability to lead, motivate and influence others.
  • High attention to detail.
