AGL’s Health, Safety and Environment team has an opportunity for Senior Environmental Advisor.
With the flexibility for this role to be based in Adelaide or Melbourne, you will be working across the enterprise and playing a pivotal role in ensuring HSE leadership, environmental compliance, risk management and continuous improvement across our operational sites and assets.
What you’ll be doing:
- Partnering with stakeholders across operational sites, providing technical input for project development, environmental risk assessments and ensuring projects and operations are compliant with relevant legislation.
- Mentoring and supporting an Env Advisor already stationed at AGL’s Torrens Island asset in Adelaide
- Deliver on AGL’s HSE Strategy, implementing site-based programs to drive alignment with environmental objectives
- Manage environmental risks by identifying trends and maintaining risk registers
- Develop and implement assurance activities such as audits and inspections to enhance compliance
- Manage and oversee all environmental monitoring and reporting requirements including regulator liaison where required
- Manage environmental incidents, including conducting investigations and all required internal and external reporting Manage contractors and consultants via AGL’s procurement policies and HSEMS Contractor Management Framework
- Build/embed systems to ensure that site-based personnel are adequately trained on environmental issues and seek to improve AGL’s training and induction materials
- Design and deliver effective communication strategies and process that will engage and influence site-based personnel
- Demonstrate close adherence to AGL’s values to create and improve workforce culture.
What you’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering (or similar qualification) required
- A high level of project management skills and a background in auditing or assurance activities
- Experience working in operations, construction or high-risk (heavy) industry.
- Proven experience in environmental risk management, environmental monitoring, contractor management and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical advice and influence decision-making
- Well-developed communication skills and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to travel interstate when required to support operations and environmental compliance
