The Qantas NSW Workers Compensation Team is growing as part of our recent awarding of a group Self Insurance Licence to now cover all companies that are part of the Qantas Group in NSW. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Workers Compensation Claims Officer to join our expanding team in New South Wales.
The Senior Claims Officer position is part of a centralised national support service that is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex NSW workers compensation claims with the aim of supporting our employees through their recovery and return to work. You will manage a wide-range portfolio of complex claims as well as review and assess workers compensation claims in accordance with NSW Workers Compensation legislation, standards of practice, make liability decisions on claims and treatment.
This role will be responsible for effective claims and injury management strategies. You will influence, motivate and strive to deliver exceptional claims management outcomes, educating and assisting employees and business managers on workers’ compensation. You will lead case reviews and assist with the development of claims management strategies on all open claims.
To be successful you will possess:
- Higher School certificate or equivalent
- Broad Workers Compensation Claims Management experience essential
- Workers Compensation Self-Insurance experience preferable
- Working knowledge of NSW legislative workers compensation framework & timeframes
- Ability to manage complex workers compensation issues/procedures
- Strong skills in identification and management of barriers and strategies associated with person centric injury and claims management
- Expert skills and knowledge in the identification and management of complex barriers and strategies withing the technical requirements of workers compensation.
- Expert knowledge of PIAWE legislation, regulation and Standards of Practice
- Expert knowledge in processing of Workers Compensation Weekly Benefits
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Strong and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build constructive and effective working relationships
- Evidence of high-level attention to accuracy and detail
- Must maintain confidentiality of information
