About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Application Engineer to join our collaborative IT team based at our Head Office in West Footscray, just a 5-minute stroll from the train station. Reporting to the National Systems Manager, youll take the lead on ensuring our business systems align with evolving organisational needs, optimise application performance, and deliver real value to end users. Youll be the go-to expert for a range of technologies, including:
  • Epicor ERP
  • SaaS platforms (HiBob, Kronos, Meridian, Concur, SharePoint, Elmo, MyOSH)

Key Responsibilities,

Application Management

  • Interface with Key Business Stakeholders on the design and implementation of Business Systems tools and processes. Develop, implement, and monitor strategic initiatives in line with broader business plans to ensure business applications have the capability to meet current business demands and any anticipated changes including setting and executing the applications strategy.
  • managing the selection, design, maintenance, and delivery of the application ecosystem to the end-user community.
  • analysing the software needs of the organisation and providing suitable solutions to meet those needs.
  • Champion the use of the chosen Software Toolsets through-out Fenner Group of Companies.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage the on-time, on budget delivery of IT related projects. Ensure key stakeholders and end users are consulted, updated, and informed of project milestones and delays and that disruptions are minimised.
  • Where third party providers and vendors are engaged as part of a project ensure contractual obligations are met.

Change Management

  • Manage the software release process from fault logging, testing and promotion to production. This includes patch management and major upgrades.
  • Adhere to approved change management practises. Conduct issue testing and replicate issues in Internal Test/Sandbox environment.

Continuous Improvement

  • Engage with key stakeholders to assess current and future IT and communications capacity, identifying and recommending strategic improvements to systems, technologies, and practices that enhance organisational productivity, reduce costs, and improve service delivery and user experience through greater reliability, functionality, connectivity, and security.

About You

You will demonstrate advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles, business processes, and information systems management. You are well-versed in corporate IT governance and regulatory compliance, particularly in areas related to application service delivery, audit practices, and control frameworks.

Proficiency in Epicor ERP is essential, with deep expertise across key modules such as Manufacturing, Field Service, and Financials. A strong foundation in database architecture, coupled with a thorough understanding of the full application development lifecycle, is required. You are also adept in established project management methodologies and frameworks.

As a technical subject matter expert, you bring hands-on experience working with Epicor ERP, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 technologies. You possess a minimum of five years experience in the development, implementation, and management of ERP systemspreferably within mid-tier or larger, multi-site, and cross-functional environments. Additionally, you have a strong track record in leading and delivering complex IT software projects in similar settings.

The role demands exceptional analytical capabilities, with the ability to navigate complex architectures, synthesise large volumes of information, and transform business requirements into practical, value-driven solutions. Strong problem-solving skills are essential, including the capacity to identify nuanced challenges, assess viable alternatives, and implement effective, scalable outcomes.
