Were on the hunt for a proven health and safety leader ready to take on one of New Zealands most unique and meaningful roles in this high hazard facility. Lead our integrated health, safety, security and emergency response team at one of Aotearoa New Zealands flagship industrial sites.

As our new Senior Advisor Health, Safety and Security, youll lead a high-performing team, work on technically complex health, safety and security challenges, and be a vital part of our site leadership team, working with operations to ensure we excel at all aspects of health and safety management.

As our new Senior Advisor, you will:

  • Own the full risk envelope health, hygiene, safety, security and emergency response in a major-hazard facility that operates as a Port of First Entry under New Zealands Maritime Security Act
  • Leading and mentoring a skilled health, safety and security team in one of NZs largest and most challenging industrial operations
  • Driving smart, strategic improvements in critical risk management across a wide range of high hazards including molten metals
  • Supporting our site leadership team with top-tier health and safety advice and insight
  • Command a 24/7 volunteer industrial fire brigade registered with Fire & Emergency NZ, plus an on-call medical and rescue team
  • Manage a 24/7 security contractor managing access to site and our wharf facilities which are a Port of First Entry under Maritime code
  • Shape the sites security posture in line with the ISPS Code, bio-security controls and Rio Tinto global standards
  • Embed Human & Organisational Performance (HOP) and Human-Factors thinking across 850 employees and contractorsmoving the dial from work as imagined to work as done

What Youll Bring

  • Experience in complex industrial or manufacturing multi-hazard environments
  • Experience in human and organisational performance, human factors or similar
  • A track record of leading teams and influencing across all levels of an organisation
  • Curiosity, courage, and a desire to do work that truly matters
  • Qualifications in Health, Hygiene, Safety or a related field

Our Pacific Operations sites are located along the east coast of Australia, at the tip of the Northern Territory and in New Zealands south.  With more than 6,000 employees, we operate a full value chain approachmining, refining and smelting. Our portfolio includes four bauxite mines, two refineries, four smelters and one power station, and is supported by technical experts located in our Brisbane hub, including a fully operational Operations Centre for our bauxite mines
