About the Role

  

Join a team driving innovation and improvement at Midland Brick! Were seeking a hands-on Project Technician to support our Engineering and Project Group by executing defined work scopes that enhance our plant operations. This role involves fabricating, assembling, installing, and carrying out construction and repair work on plant equipment and structureshelping ensure our facilities stay efficient, safe, and future-ready.

  

Your role will include:

  • Build and assemble metal components, machinery, and equipment from technical plans
  • Accurately fit and align parts to ensure smooth operation
  • Weld and cut materials to AS/NZS standards
  • Install and repair mechanical systems and plant equipment
  • Perform routine and urgent maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical issues efficiently
  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards
  • Inspect finished work to verify it meets required specs
  • Maintain detailed records of all work and changes made
  • Collaborate with engineers and key stakeholders on project delivery
  • Mentor and support apprentices and junior team members
  • Keep projects on time and within budget
  • Suggest and support process improvements
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices
  • Contribute to smart, practical solutions for technical challenges

Skills and Experience: 

  • Trade-qualified in Mechanical or Fabrication (Cert III level)
  • 5 years experience in construction or industrial settings
  • Able to obtain relevant tickets (e.g. Working at Heights, Confined Space, Forklift)
  • Rigger and Dogman training a bonus
  • Confident in assembling and installing machinery and mechanical parts
  • Can read and work from technical drawings and schematics
  • Skilled at inspecting work to meet safety and performance standards, and fixing issues if needed
  • Accurate with measurements and comfortable cutting, shaping, and fitting parts
