THE ROLE
Applications are sought from experienced Project Exploration Geologists to join the team at Ora Banda for a six month fixed term contract.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
- Formulate conceptual models using mineral systems concepts, knowledge of Eastern Goldfields tectono-thermal history and gold mineralisation analogues
- Understand how to test conceptual models through generating hypotheses and testing of these through focussed data collection
- Understand the importance of scale-relevant data in the selection of appropriate prospectivity criteria
- Compile and evaluate geoscientific data including all types of surface and drilling samples, remote sensing, geophysical and geochemical data
- Integrate available data to form solid geology maps combining regolith, stratigraphy, structure and alteration
- Participate in target ranking workshops and population of the exploration pipeline
- Work closely with the Senior Exploration Geologist to deliver a peer-reviewed geological assessment, targeting, ranking and program proposal process
- Plan and execute both project work and field programs; closing out each according to subscribed reporting requirements
- Assist with day-to-day management of drill contractor; monitoring of rig sampling practices, ensure diamond core, RC & RAB sampling is done to company standards.
- Ensure the timely completion of concise and clearly-communicated geological and department reporting (daily &monthly)
- Assist in management of departments human resources during exploration & resource drilling programs
- Attend and chair meetings as required
- Work with and mentor geologists and technicians to ensure activities are completed to the highest technical standards
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in an exploration role
- Skilled in GIS software, preferably QGIS, Leapfrog and with exposure to exploration geostatistical packages (ioGAS or other)
- An understanding of Eastern Goldfields geology and Archaean gold lode systems
- Demonstrable experience in initiating and testing novel geological theories
- Solid knowledge of exploration concepts and techniques
- An understanding of mining & exploration tenements, administration, and OHS&E
- Concise and efficient at report writing and other geological documentation
- Class C WA manual drivers licence
