Procurement Specialist – Rail

Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8-hour days)
Travel: Occasional travel to Karratha (approx. once every 2 weeks during tender phases, then monthly)
Are you a procurement professional ready to contribute to a high-impact, strategic sourcing project? We are currently seeking a Procurement Specialist to join and support the Senior Specialist Rail (Track) in delivering key contract outcomes.
In this role, youll be instrumental in managing tender, evaluation, negotiation, and contract development within the Rail Track portfolio for Rail Network Renewals. This is your opportunity to work on one of Rio Tintos significant infrastructure projects and drive commercial outcomes that deliver real value.
Responsibilities:

• Develop and issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to the market
• Finalise contract templates, pricing tables, and returnable schedules
• Coordinate with stakeholders to build cost analysis and commercial models
• Prepare and release market communication and engagement packages
• Manage internal approvals and liaise across operations, finance, and legal teams
• Develop evaluation criteria and ensure compliance with procurement policies
• Oversee clarifications and manage the clarifications register
• Lead evaluation of tender submissions, guiding technical, commercial, and functional reviews
• Support internal endorsement processes and stakeholder approvals
• Finalise the contract award recommendation in alignment with Rio Tinto policies

What Youll Bring:

• Solid procurement experience on medium to large capital projects
• Strong Excel modelling skills
• Experience with performance-based contracting models
• Proven ability to autonomously manage tenders
• Adept negotiation skills with a strong commercial mindset
