About the role

As our Privacy Officer, youll work at the centre of customer data compliance, supporting Origins privacy program across our enterprise. Youll play a pivotal role in ensuring we meet and exceed our privacy obligations under the Privacy Act, the Australian Privacy Principles and other applicable laws and regulations.
Youll be part of a high-performing and collaborative Legal team that supports a dynamic, fast-paced retail business. This role goes far beyond paperworkyoull be embedded in the business, engaging with IT, security and privacy champions across Origin to assess data risks, conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, and support privacy-by-design across a diverse and evolving organisation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Championing Origins privacy framework, ensuring it remains robust and effective
- Reviewing PIAs, supplier contracts, and internal processes with a privacy lens
- Advising teams on how we collect, store, process and protect customer information
- Partnering with stakeholders and privacy champions across the business units
- Support investigations and respond to incidents
- Staying ahead of developments in privacy regulation and supporting regulatory responses
- Identifying opportunities to enhance privacy practices
- Supporting delivery of business goals and initiatives which have privacy impacts or implications
- Promoting privacy awareness and assist with training and communication materials
What will you bring?
- A solid understanding of privacy obligations, with 3 years in a privacy, legal, compliance or regulatory role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally in Law
- Proven experience in assessing data risk and advising on privacy in a complex corporate environment
- The confidence and clarity to provide commercial, accurate, and practical advice
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and stakeholder engagement
- A genuine interest in customer protection, AI and data governance
