Principal Civil Engineer

Clough has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer with a solid background in Civil Engineering Design and Management (earthworks, storm water drainage, roads and geotechnical investigation) to join our In-house Engineering Team in Perth or Brisbane! In this role, you will effectively be responsible for technical civil design deliverables working closely with stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective and fit-for-purpose engineering and design output complying with company requirements.

Your focus will include:

  • Delivery of technically acceptable civil engineering design services to ensure the development of high levels of client satisfaction and Clough’s business needs
  • Work with technical specialists to ensure specification compliance and technical integrity of design
  • Prepare and review civil engineering deliverables (calculations, drawings, specifications, MTO and scope of works) including documents and data from external consultants, suppliers and other disciplines
  • Collaboration with the in-house structural, bidding, procurement and construction teams
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and improvement of systems within the civil/structural discipline
  • Manage customer relations to achieve mutually satisfactory and technical program outcomes
  • Liaise regularly with manager to report progress, areas of concern / issues and potential changes

What you will bring to the team:

  • Minimum 12 years relevant, post graduate civil engineering design experience
  • Extensive experience in Technical Design within engineering contracting or consultancy organisations in one or more of the following sectors – Oil & Gas, Mining & Minerals and Infrastructure / Utilities
  • Capability in civil engineering design software such as 12D or Civil 3D is highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of local and international Codes and Standards
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) is preferred
  • RPEQ (mandatory for applicants who would like to be based in Brisbane)
  • Membership of relevant Engineering Institutions (e.g. Engineers Australia) – preferred
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
