The Role

The Precision Ag Solutions team is growing, and an opportunity exists for an innovative individual who is passionate about advancing the agriculture industry to join a highly successful and professional team as a Precision Ag Specialist.

Delta Ags Precision Ag Team is an industry leading advisory team that operates across NSW, Vic, SA and WA offering advisory services on implementing practical solutions into commercial farming operations. Our purpose is to partner with farmers to make the right decisions.

Your role as a Precision Ag (PA) Specialist is to become the PA expert in your region and provide advice to our agronomic team and clients. You will work in close collaboration with our agronomy team and our clients to identify, develop and implement better management practices by understanding the cross-over between farming operations and the insights gained from analysing spatial data. The overall objective is to deliver value for growers, through developing practical opportunities to manage production costs and improve farm profitability and sustainability.

This role is ideal for a technically minded individual who wants to develop a career making a difference in Australian agriculture. The team strongly values innovation; transforming the latest research into commercial applications, streamlining internal systems and processes to scale our business, growing our competitive edge and delivering on-farm support to increase the value we bring to growers. Your real strength will be your commitment to increase your clients profitability through superior service, continued learning and a willingness to challenge the status quo. You will require a commercial, agile, and positive attitude, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as general knowledge of farming operations.

While a background in Precision Agriculture is preferred, candidates will be considered from a range of different backgrounds if they have a passion for agriculture, driving innovation and have skills that they believe can add value to the growth and success of the team.

The role will involve:

  • Developing strong professional relationships with farming clients by focusing on providing the best advice, rather than selling products.
  • Working with the wider agronomy network to develop precision agriculture solutions that improve farming profitability and increase efficiency.
  • Managing client spatial data and provide support and on-farm technical assistance to growers with the implementation of PA management plans.
  • Analysing farm data, production variation, soil types/constraints, moisture levels, and crop performance, to identify opportunities for precision agricultural solutions to create value for growers.
  • Monitor, analyse, evaluate the performance of solutions to ensure that they are delivering the expected results and implement improvements where needed.
  • Working with the team to innovate our internal systems and processes so that we can provide better services to a wider client base.
  • Identify and implement business development opportunities.
  • Support the trials/R&D team with internal and industry research projects.
  • Conduct training sessions with agronomists and farmers to help them understand the benefits and proper use of precision agriculture technology.
  • Assist in the successful running and co-ordination of field days and farmer meetings.
  • Writing technical and management articles and newsletters.

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Passion for agriculture, desire to innovate and continually improve.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Engineering, Business, Data Science, GIS, Computer Science or similar.
  • Understanding of geospatial and precision agriculture concepts and technologies, including GPS, drones, and remote sensing.
  • Basic knowledge of crop management practices, including soil, nutrition, pest, and disease management.
  • Self-driven and capable of self-led learning with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Great computer skills and ideally experience with geospatial information systems QGIS, ArcGIS, PCT, Farm Management Systems.
  • You must have a commitment to achieving team goals, commercial business outcomes, and highly developed interpersonal skills and dedication to customer service.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to innovation and sustainable agronomic and farm management practices.

We encourage applicants to apply who have an interest in the industry and meet most of the requirements above.

Delta Ag will provide a highly competitive remuneration package including incentives, as well as ongoing training and development and a long-term career path, including the ability to invest in the business, and share in the value creation rewards of the broader business.
