• Located at the Charles Perkins Centre within our School of Medical Sciences
• Base Salary Level B1 $122,830 17% superannuation

Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.   

We are currently seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cancer Theme.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• conduct research or scholarly activity (either independently or as part of a team) within discipline or area of expertise

• develop and refine research skills and independent research under the supervision of more senior academic staff within the School/ Faculty (with an increasing degree of autonomy)

• Lead and perform animal-based studies. This includes colony management, animal interventions and surgery, sample preparation for microCT, histology, flow cytometry, in vitro techniques, live cell and intravital fluorescent microscopy

• Maintain high quality, standards and excellence in any research activities and output

• undertake administration primarily related to their activities at the University.

About you

• PhD in a relevant area

• a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector

• demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline

• experience in conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity

• extensive experience in fluorescence microscopy

• experience leading complex cellular biology experiments and live cell imaging

• capacity to perform laboratory-based techniques including flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and basic animal studies

• possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

• experience supervising students and teaching junior staff.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident. 

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
