About the Role
The Infrastructure and Operations Division is custodian of over $6B in infrastructure assets across portfolios of: Transport, Storm water, Open Space, Water, Wastewater, Waste, Cemeteries, Coastal, Buildings and Facilities assets. The management of these assets requires a large capital renewals program comprising hundreds of various sized projects annually. In addition, continuing growth of the city drives the need for new infrastructure or upgrades to existing infrastructure.
Working predominately on a Backhoe, the Plant Operator will complete all assigned projects and delivery tasks as requested by the Plant Allocation Foreperson for the Construction and Maintenance performance plan. You will formulate plans of work as a part of the job analysis for individual projects and complete pre-start and pre-work checks to ensure the safe operation of all plant and trucks.
Whilst not on the Backhoe, you will assist construction and maintenance personnel with labouring activities while onsite for Construction and Maintenance projects.
About You
Mandatory requirements include:
- Current HR Drivers Licence
- Relevant Backhoe Certificate of Competency
- Final Trim experience
You will have experience in the operation of a Backhoe to achieve construction tolerance for local authority works. Experience on other plant would be desirable (road roller/skid steer/mini excavator).
Other requirements of the role include:
- Certificate associated with the successful completion of the Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts training course
- Knowledge and experience in the efficient and safe operation of heavy ridged vehicles and other item of plant; including servicing requirements and prestart checks and basic mechanical knowledge associated with day-to-day maintenance of plant and trucks.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance practices associated with the development and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Aus-Spec, Australian Standards, Load Restraint Guide, Work Health and Safety legislative requirements, Quality Assurance procedures and all other relevant standards, guidelines and codes in the operation of heavy vehicles in a civil construction / local government environment.
