About Kimberley Mineral Sands (KMS)

KMS is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and Yansteel. Our Thunderbird Mineral Sands Operation is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. 

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

Job Description

THE ROLE
As our Payroll Officer, youll be the goto expert making sure everyone is paid accurately and on time You will work across modern HRIS platforms (ELMO) and Employment Hero/KeyPay, collaborate with a supportive People and Finance team, and have the autonomy to streamline processes and solve problems creatively.

  • Work type: Permanent parttime (24 hours/week) with flexible scheduling around the fortnightly payrun.
  • Location: Perth (blend of St Georges Terrace office work from home)

What you will do

  • Own the fortnightly payroll endtoend from data entry to final processing
  • Be our compliance guardian – ensure adherence to industrial instruments (Awards/EAs), the Fair Work Act, ATO and superannuation obligations
  • Keep our systems tidy – maintain accurate records in Employment Hero and work with integrated HRIS ELMO
  • Solve problems – field employee queries with confidence and provide timely, accurate responses
  • Drive accuracy – reconcile payroll transactions, prepare superannuation declarations, and coordinate with Finance
  • Champion improvement – identify opportunities to optimise payroll processes and enhance reporting

Desired Skills and Experience

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 3 years payroll experience – deep knowledge of Australian payroll
  • Strong working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, PAYG, superannuation guarantee and ATO reporting
  • HRIS proficiency – experience with ELMO, Employment Hero/KeyPay (or similar)
  • Excel skills – pivot tables, formulas and data manipulation
  • Deadlinedriven – you consistently meet payroll cutoffs
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Current WA CClass drivers licence
