Job Title: Patching Server Engineer
Duration: 12 months with possible extension
Location: Canberra/Hybrid
Requirements Overview
This role sits within the Infrastructure Section and is patching management activities and improving the client ‘system infrastructure, specifically on premises server and storage systems, and may also support multi cloud infrastructure primarily in Microsoft Azure, Including Office365 applications, Client’s operating environments, and end user device management (Microsoft tune).
Role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Identify and implement solutions to vulnerabilities, both software patching, and configuration hardening, as identified and prioritised through tool stacks and governance processes.
- Contributing to the preparation, development and improvement of documentation of systems in alignment with governance processes and committees.
- Work collaboratively across teams to build capability, share knowledge and support teams in their security compliance obligations in adherence with existing legislation and internal policies
- Contribute to continuous improvement processes, uplifting section capability and working to support patching capability across the Chief Information Officer’s Division to meet tight deadlines
- Working independently and as a member of a small multidisciplinary team to troubleshoot technical issues, sharing knowledge and building a repository of information to support legacy infrastructure
- Ensure deadlines are consistently met and that a high standard of technical and design documentation is provided as required.
- Work collaboratively with other teams to investigate and resolve complex issues with the operation of infrastructure and infrastructure as code.
- Work effectively across teams to provide systems expertise to enhance and improve existing solutions, including designing, developing, implementing, and testing solutions, in line with business requirements and software development standards.
- Undertaking complex and/or sensitive work, under broad direction, utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to IT Service Management.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience with vulnerability management solutions, such as MECM, Nessus, Satellite, and Ivanti
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing enterprise IT solutions based on-premises and utilising cloud services.
- Proven experience in analysing complex technical issues, identifying root causes, and developing effective solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in deploying, testing, and maintaining an enterprise sized ICT environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles and processes in context of security patch management and infrastructure management
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience building and maintaining productive working relationships across the Branch and with other key stakeholders, promoting a culture of collaboration and respect.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to various audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated personal drive and integrity whilst achieving results, in alignment with legislation including but not limited to PSPF and ISM controls.
