Australian Grain Technologies (AGT) is Australia’s largest plant breeding company, and the market leader in wheat genetics. Through the commitment and passion of their people, they have become the leading provider of bread wheat, durum wheat and lupin varieties in Australia and are also working hard to achieve the same for their other crops namely barley and canola. They are also working hard to achieve the same for their other crops, barley and canola. 

AGT consider themselves privileged to be able to serve Australian farmers, the rural communities that they live in, and people all around the world by developing new field crop varieties that are more productive, better quality and cost less to grow.

GRDC appoints three nominee directors to the AGT Board, one of whom is then appointed by the AGT Board as Chair. This position is to replace one of those directors, whose term expires on 31 December. GRDC are looking for candidates that will result in the board having a combination of expertise and experience in the following areas:

This includes strategy development and review of governance, financial performance, and operational efficiency across all functions of the business. 
  • Australian crop production systems
  • Plant science & breeding
  • Industry knowledge and connections
  • Commercialisation of R&D
  • Field crop value chain & marketing

In addition to the above, it is assumed all directors will have a strength in the following areas:

  • Business & commercial skills
  • Risk Management
  • Financial acumen
  • Corporate governance

The Board meets four (4) times per year in a mix of face to face and online with a key focus on strategic and business performance goals and ensuring risk is appropriately managed. There may be an opportunity to join one of the two sub-committees of the Board: Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, and Remuneration Committee.
