Reporting to the Supervisor of Production Enablement, you will have responsibility for investigating performance and determining how best to define, prioritise, plan and implement improvements that safely deliver the most value to the business. You will provide specialist advice to the department, execute analysis and benchmarking of Mining Productions end-to-end performance, and identify and implement improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence. You will be based at our South Flank mine site with a 5:2:4:3 or 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster.

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
  • Understand the significant HSE risks which are apparent within the mining environment and ensure controls are implemented to mitigate the risk
  • Take shared accountability for the performance of the mining fleet and ensure quality of tasks, services and advice provided to the operation
  • Support and encourage peers and other team members to build a safety orientated, high performance culture, with a strong focus on continuous improvement
  • Investigate and identify process and equipment related productivity improvement opportunities
  • Initiate & execute improvement activities for mining productivity and cost reduction projects
  • Prepare the inputs and assumptions for short and medium term production plans and monitor execution to verify compliance to plan
  • Lead weekly root cause analysis meetings (RCA/PPS)

  • A recognised Tertiary Degree in STEM
  • Self-reliant contributor with distinctive proficiency in continuous improvement with a minimum experience of 2 years work experience in an open cut mining environment
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship skills
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Strong planning, prioritizing and organization skills
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement
  • Sound computer skills with Microsoft office (Excel, Power point, Word, etc.).
  • Strong track record of project delivery
  • Experience using Fleet Software (Provision, surface manager, DAS etc) is advantageous
  • Experience using Power BI or Business Objects will be highly regarded
  • Qualifications in Mine Engineering & planning experience will be advantageous
