Mental Health Nurse
An exciting opportunity for a specialised Mental Health Nurse has become available to join our YHAC Clinic/Programs team!
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in mental health nursing and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by the Aboriginal community. You will play a crucial role in delivering culturally appropriate mental health care, support, and advocacy.
Working Arrangements:
- Full Time Permanent Position
- 6-month Probationary Period
- Day Shifts Monday-Friday
- Hourly rate between $42 – $54
Key Selection Criteria:
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
- Postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities or a strong commitment to learning about and respecting Aboriginal culture.
- Previous Care Planning/ Health Assessment experience.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Sound computer skills for electronic medical record documentation.
- Current Driver’s License and willingness to travel within the community.
- Current National Police Check, Working With Children Check, and DHS Aged Care Screening.
- Current First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Certification.
- Evidence of Covid-19 1st, 2nd & Booster Vaccinations encouraged but not a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and interventions.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans in conjunction with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Offer therapeutic support and counselling to individuals and families.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organisations, and family members to ensure holistic, culturally appropriate care.
- Promote mental health awareness and education within the community.
- Support patients in navigating the healthcare system and accessing necessary services.
- Participate in community outreach programs and events.
- Provide support and leadership to clinic and program staff.
- Administering medications and injections as prescribed by physicians, as well as completing Venipuncture.
- Ensuring compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Monitoring of patient clinical outcomes.
