About the Role

My client, a leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to support their world-class fertiliser and nitrates production facilities. In this hands-on role, you will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, including plant modifications on mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment breakdowns, reporting recurring faults to supervisors.
  • Complete work to trade standards, following instructions and safety procedures.
  • Monitor job progress, update SAP with hours, status changes, feedback, and technical findings.
  • Conduct commissioning checks in line with guidelines.
  • Support shutdowns and turnarounds as required.
  • Mentor apprentices and liaise with specialists to resolve complex issues.
  • Supervise contractors when assigned.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in workshop and plant areas.
  • Complete required site training, including isolation officer duties under the Permit to Work system.

HESQ & Compliance

  • Champion safety by participating in JSEA/SJA, incident investigations, and inspections.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, and quality standards in a Major Hazard Facility.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct.

About You

  • TAFE Certificate III or IV, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years’ experience in Petrochemical, Gas Processing, or Oil Refining industries.
  • Pump (centrifugal) and conveyors experience .
  • Skilled in rotating equipment, materials handling systems, pumps, gearboxes, and machining.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and safe work practices.
  • Proficient in SAP and MS Office, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Committed to teamwork, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
