Mechanical Fitter

CoreStaff are seeking candidates to work within the Waste Management facility based in Spring Farm. Our client is a leader in waste management and responsibly recycling everyday waste.

There are several positions available on site both day and afternoon shift, working within the Product Destruction Unit and Material Recycling Facility.

Our client is looking for suitably experienced Mechanic/Fitters to immediately join their team working broadly across all fixed and mobile plant at the facility.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have a background in maintaining and repairing plant and machinery in a production or heavy vehicle environment. Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker Certificate preferred but not essential. In addition candidates must have good attendance and have a strong awareness and regard for health, safety and the environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operating machine.
• Complete planned maintenance tasks.
• Fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs.
• Fabrication
• Complete repairs or modifications as requested by the Maintenance Planner or Shift Supervisor.
• Replace parts as required.
• Superior and broad mechanical aptitude.
• Mechanical Fitting, maintenance related to conveyors, stacking plant, trommel screens, cranes, drives, bearings rollers etc.
• Welding Stick and Tig welding
• Machine tools – Occasional use of milling machine, lathe and pedestal drill.
• Maintain safe work & operating practices; and maintain a high standard of housekeeping.

About the role:


These are hands-on roles working within a waste management facility. Every day will be different as the team navigate all required to diagnose, maintain and repair all fixed and moving plant at the facility.

Essential Skills Required

• Forklift License
• Physically fit & prepared to work in various areas and in various types of plant and machinery.
• Reliable
• Drivers Licence suitable for category of vehicles being used

• Permanent Working Rights in Australia without restriction
• Flexibility to work shifts and overtime

Desired Skills Required

• HR License
• Experience in processing waste treatment facilities would be advantageous
• Experience operating machinery in an industrial environment
