MC Truck Driver

Start Date: Flexible

Pay Rate: $45/hr

Job Description: Our client is a progressive multi-generational family farm, who has built a successful operation across multiple industries such as broad-acre and row cropping, feed-lotting and cattle breeding. They have asked us to find them an MC Driver, experienced with carting cattle on Western Qld roads. You will be primarily responsible for transporting the predominantly young cattle from breeding properties in the channel country through to the backgrounding and feedlot in Southern Qld.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate truck and trailers in compliance with farm OH & S policies.
  • Operate truck according to legislation regarding fatigue management and other heavy transport requirements.
  • Assist with performing routine maintenance and repairs on prime-mover and trailers.
  • Proactively and routinely wash down truck and trailers to reduce biosecurity risks and maintain equipment in good order.
  • Ensure that all paperwork regarding the operation of the truck is submitted to appropriate people, completed and in a timely manner.
  • Pro-actively work with station managers to unsure that all cattle are “fit to load” as per industry best practice and animal welfare legislation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience carting livestock – essential
  • Experience carting grain, hay and general freight – highly regarded
  • Strong mechanical skills for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare and commitment to uphold transport standards – “fit to load”.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently when needed.
  • Clean and tidy appearance, you are the “face of the company” on the open road.
  • Valid MC driver’s license.
