An opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Technician – Mechanical to join our Maintenance team based in the Lower Tumut Region, NSW. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Lead, this role will be responsible for the installation, overhaul and routine and breakdown maintenance for all mechanical features of our hydro generating assets, auxiliary plant and hydraulic structures. This role is based on a 9 day fortnight.

In addition to the above, this role will include:

  • Undertaking mechanical trades tasks such as fitting, welding, fabrication, lubrication and specialised machining tasks

  • Participating in commissioning & recommissioning following the installation or overhaul of equipment

  • The ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines, and effectively communicate progress and issues to Team Leaders

  • Maintaining accurate records by completing all administrative requirements and utilising maintenance management systems such as Ellipse and ePAS

  • Assisting internal teams with safe practical solutions to identify plant or asset faults

  • Leading by example and continuously demonstrating the highest level of health and safety standards in accordance with Snowy Hydro’s OHS policies and exhibiting behaviours consistent with the Snowy Hydro Values

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Certificate III in Fitting Machinist Trade, with experience in heavy industry preferred

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning and monitoring procedures and work methods

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant standards and regulations

  • A willingness to continually learn and develop in areas outside of your current skill set
