Resourceful Recruitment has partnered with a leading entity within the Oil & Gas sector committed to pioneering advancements in energy solutions. Based in Brisbane, they are currently seeking an experienced I&E Maintenance Lead to support the commissioning, start-up, and early operation of new process units on a major capital project.
About the Role
Reporting to the Completions and Commissioning Manager, the I&E Lead is responsible for leading I&E technicians to safely support the commissioning, start-up, and early operation of new gas treatment and amine units. The role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of maintenance and troubleshooting activities across all I&E systems, supporting reliable operation and a smooth transition to steady-state maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and mitigate I&E commissioning-related hazards including electrical isolation, arc-flash risk, and hazardous area compliance.
- Ensure I&E systems — instrumentation, analysers, MCCs, control valves, PLC/DCS/SIS systems, and field devices — are reliable and ready for continuous operation.
- Provide hands-on I&E troubleshooting during start-up, including fault-finding on control loops, field devices, communication networks, and power distribution.
- Support control system tuning, loop optimisation, instrument configuration, and validation of cause-and-effect and functional safety systems.
- Work closely with Operations to support the transition from project delivery to steady-state maintenance, ensuring asset data, maintenance strategies, and documentation are aligned.
- Support vendor engagement for commissioning activities and coordinate specialist I&E support.
- Lead a small team of I&E technicians, reinforcing safety, quality, and accountability across all tasks.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Electrical Licence and Instrumentation Trade Certification (essential)
- Proven experience as an I&E technician or lead within a Maintenance team in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience with preventative, corrective, and major maintenance of complex I&E equipment
- CMMS knowledge with demonstrated experience in SAP
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and vendor manuals
- Strong understanding of instrument calibration, loop tuning, and control logic
- Ability to apply innovative thinking and problem-solving within a multi-disciplinary operational support team
- Desirable: Major Hazard Facility experience, T&I start-up experience, HV functional switching, gas chromatograph maintenance, control system troubleshooting, hazardous-area electrical equipment
