The opportunity 

Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager with a passion for improving operational performance and leading teams? We are partnering with a leading open-cut coal mine operator to recruit a Maintenance Manager to support operations at their site in Central Queensland. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team, lead maintenance activities, and help drive improvements in systems and processes.

The Opportunity

As the Maintenance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of maintenance activities on site, ensuring the effective coordination and management of mobile, fixed plant and infrastructure maintenance. You’ll work closely with the Mechanical Maintenance team, providing leadership and ensuring operational excellence in safety, reliability, and efficiency.

What the Role Entails

  • Lead the Mechanical Maintenance team, providing senior-level leadership on safety and maintenance requirements.
  • Manage and control operating, capital, and manning budgets, ensuring all departmental budgets are met.
  • Focus on planning, preventive and corrective maintenance, while effectively managing emergent work.
  • Drive the improvement of maintenance systems and planning, aiming to reduce operational costs and eliminate unplanned downtime due to equipment failure.
  • Foster a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development across the team and operations.

What You Will Need

  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification.
  • At least 8-10 years of mining experience, including supervisory-level experience in maintenance management.
  • Proven leadership abilities, specifically in managing a fixed plant maintenance team.
  • Experience with SAP and MS Project, or similar.
  • A proactive, pragmatic approach, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills to ensure timely outcomes.
