About the Role
Join our dynamic team as a casual Laboratory Technician! In this role, you’ll be responsible for the preparation and analysis of environmental samples using techniques like weighing, digesting, titrating, and solvent extraction. You’ll ensure compliance with ALS Quality Work Instructions while organizing tasks to maximize daily efficiencies and meeting timeframes and analysis standards. We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for science. TAFE qualifications and prior lab experience are desirable but not essential. Flexibility to work weekends or holidays and a dedication to quality and safety are a must.
  
The day to day

  • Preparation and analysis of water, and sediment weighing, digesting, titrating, or solvent extraction of samples
  • Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
  • Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies
  • Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard
  • Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour.

The essentials

  • A genuine interest in the Science industry
  • TAFE qualifications desirable but not essential
  • A desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety
  • Flexibility to work public holidays and weekend shifts if required
  • Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory
  • Dedication to go the extra mile, be solutions driven and ensure there is no compromise on quality
