ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Safety Advisor, you will provide dedicated system and administrative support to the project superintendent and construction team for the provision of effective safety and compliance at all Norton Gold Field (NGF) site.

KEY DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Communicate and enforce Health & Safety obligations, policies, and procedures to all personnel and visitors.
  • Develop and maintain induction and training programs for project and operational site staff.
  • Offer expert advice on legal obligations, policies, and procedures to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and address gaps in policies, systems, and procedures, integrating them into existing documents.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and government policies through timely submission of reports and documentation.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, propose preventive measures, and minimize costs associated with injuries and compensation claims.
  • Other relevant duties as required by the Project Manager.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Cert IV Occupational Health & Safety
  • Senior First Aid, or must be willing to obtain
  • Alcohol Breath Testing (PAR)
  • Incident Investigation (ICAM, TAPROOT)
  • Internal Auditor (Desirable)
  • Working At Heights Certificate
  • Working in Confined Space Certificate
  • Gas Test Atmospheres Certificate
  • Construction White Card
  • Minimum C Class Manual Motor Drivers License
  • Section 44 Training/schedule 26 must be willing to obtain

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

WORK KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum 7 years onsite experience within the mining, major construction project.
  • Understanding of the WorkSafe act and regulations.
  • Experience in the implementation safety systems.
  • Experience of conducting site safety inspections and observations.
  • Experience undertaking and facilitating incident investigations.
  • Collecting specimens for alcohol and drug testing certification.
  • Experience using safety / document related management systems such as Cintellate, rapid, security commander would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in reviewing, developing and mentoring workers in the
  • Development of JHAs, risk assessments and SOPs for review and approval.
  • Experience supporting the onboarding of personnel and contractors into a workplace.
  • High organisational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use of emails.
  • Use of Microsoft office suite.
  • Use of safety related management system e.g., Cintellate, rapid etc.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Foster productive relationships both internally and with third party stakeholders.
  • Communicate with colleagues and supervisor openly and effectively.
  • Work with other leads to deliver zero harm goals and objectives.
  • Be effective when presenting ideas; give and elicit feedback.
