Our large NSW State Government client is responsible for the management of the NSW Government’s Aboriginal housing portfolio.
About the Role
This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Building Inspectors to join their growing team in Parramatta. This is an estimated 6-month temporary assignment with a strong potential to extend.
Working within the Housing Client Services Division, you will be required to provide region-based services, project management, assessment and reports on current and prospective assets / property building and refurbishment quality and completion against contract standards including undertaking field inspections of asset maintenance works completed via contractors to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, contract requirements and company policies
Responsibilities
- Undertake field inspections and assessments of asset maintenance works completed
- Review and inspect all works are of a high quality and meets Australian Standards
- Assess property condition, repair cost quotations and refurbishment priority to address client needs
- Accurately report and maintain up to date records of inspections undertaken, outcomes and actions required
- Resolve client based issues by working collaboratively with property owning and property managing organisations
- Assess and evaluate progress and issues in new build and refurbishment programs, escalating as required to ensure timely completion and compliance
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the different inspections and compliance programs
- Build solid relationships with contractors to ensure effective delivery of maintenance works
- Manage housing providers on work and maintenance backlog, implementing actions to expedite scheduled works
- Project manage small to medium repair projects
- Recommend and complete initial portfolio redevelopment feasibility reviews
- Maintain database with all completed inspections and assessments
- Identify actions required, working with Contractors to actively resolve compliance issues
- Issue non-compliance and other notices, where required
- Track, monitor and report emerging trends and issues, whilst mitigating risks
- Make recommendations to continuous improvement
- Contribute to the Asset Management Plan and performance planning
- Adhere to all WHS policies and procedures
About You
- Thorough understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and traditions
- Demonstrated Construction Maintenance or Building Inspection experience
- Public Sector experience highly desirable
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Solid analytical, investigative, consultation, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite
Requirements
- Trade Qualifications in Construction, Building, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrician or an equivalent field
- Thorough understanding of Australian Building Codes, Australian Standards, Government and Commercial Probity and Contracting Standards
- Valid NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout Sydney Metropolitan
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
