AGL’s Health, Safety & Environment team have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Business Partner to support the safe operation of our Gas Assets.

Based in Newcastle, you will be implementing strategy, risk management and compliance across our Gas Assets (Newcastle Natural Gas Storage Facility, Somerton Power Station & Kwinana Swift Power Station).

You will be a key member of the local operations leadership team, delivering key HSE programs and actively influencing behaviours and actions to support AGL’s commitment to our people and the environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead, develop, deliver, support and monitor progress of the strategic HSE and hygiene programs and compliance requirements
  • Develop and instil a workplace culture of best practice and positive safety and environment culture, with a focus on continuous improvement for HSE
  • Undertake and coach operational team members in risk management and HSE observations to reduce high risk activities and minimise risk to workers and the environment
  • Develop and distribute relevant communications to inform the workforce about HSE issues, requirement and expectations
  • HSE reporting and trend identification to develop opportunities for improvement.
  • Review audit findings across HSE practices, processes and culture
  • Assess and manage risk, including development and maintenance of HSE risk registers, lead risk workshops, evaluation of critical controls, and associated reporting.
  • Plan, develop, review and update policies and procedures, ensuring that legislative requirements are assessed and incorporated
  • Support leaders with incident investigations and communicate lessons learnt
  • Develop and own outage specific HSE systems and processes
  • Ensure full compliance with Major Hazardous Facility Licence and Environmental Licence Protection conditions

What you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS/Environment management (diploma level as a minimum)
  • Experience in managing Environmental Protection conditions & Major Hazard Facility Conditions.
  • Lead auditor and/or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing aspects of HSE management systems in a complex multi-disciplined environment
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Experience in promoting and leading a positive and engaged HSE culture through interactions, safety programs and assurance activities
  • Incident investigation qualification and proficiency
