Heavy Diesel Mechanic

About the Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join a well-established civil operation based in the Nelson region. You’ll be joining a supportive team working across both workshop and field service environments. This role involves maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of earthmoving equipment, ensuring machinery remains reliable, safe, and operating at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, service, and repair heavy civil equipment
• Complete preventive maintenance to ensure reliability and safety
• Carry out hydraulic and electrical fault finding and repairs
• Work both independently in the field and collaboratively in a workshop setting

Benefits:

• $40-$45 per hour depending on experience
• Southern Cross insurance
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week (typically averaging around 50 hours)
• Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours

About You:

• A relevant trade qualification
• Proven hands-on experience working on heavy equipment
• Strong hydraulics experience
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
