We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at our Vales Point Power Station, located on the northern end of the Central Coast, NSW.
The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Health, Safety and Environment Manager on a diverse range of health and safety activities. This position serves as a trusted advisor in the assessment, monitoring and mitigation of health and safety risks and impacts at Delta. This is achieved by ensuring that the activities of Delta are conducted in line with Deltas WHS Management System and the obligations included in regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety within a heavy industrial setting and a passion for protecting the well-being of employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage regulative and legislative compliance requirements.
- Provides expert advice, support & direction to the Business at all levels on all matters relating to WH&S.
- Lead the Vales Point health and safety team and lead project teams as required.
- Lead safety investigations.
- Develop and implement safety strategies and health programs.
- Manage and deliver related projects.
- Manage and review Deltas safety management system and risk register.
- Facilitate the review and reporting of audit programs.
- Provide leadership and mentorship.
What Were Looking For:
- Degree qualifications in WH&S management, applied science or engineering with substantial experience in heavy industry or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of relevant Acts, Legislation, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and general industry practices in health and safety areas applying to a large-scale production enterprise.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills in relation to safety issues.
- Demonstrated experience in managing elements of safety risk through a Safety Management System. Experience in ISO would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor/coach others.
