About the role:

Supporting a successful energy transition, this position will take the lead from concept to investment decision for large utility-scale greenfield firming generation projects, largely in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and gas peakers.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage and lead all firming development projects from once prospected through to handover to execution team, including BESS and gas-peaking power station projects.
• Lead a small team of Senior Development Managers, Development Managers, and specialised engineers to manage the portfolio of firming development projects
• Oversee all development workstreams for firming projects and provide oversight of the cost, time, quality, assurance and risk management of the portfolio.
• Work collaboratively across the functions of prospecting, engineering, land access, approvals, social licence, grid connection, construction and commercial/contracts teams.
• Provide subject matter expertise and project management expertise to the firming prospecting team to increase the portfolio of BESS and gas firming projects.
• Solve and manage complex issues in relation to project scope, design, cost, schedule, performance, and value.
• Provide key inputs to decision making for major development contracting strategies

What will you bring?

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation, with 5 years of that being in Renewables, firming or storage
• Strong commercial acumen
• Exceptional knowledge of power generation development processes in particular in relation to gas firming, renewables and/or storage
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with a collaborative approach
• Sound knowledge of risk management processes
• Highly developed organisation, co-ordination, and time management skills
• Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently
• Communicating timeframes and information appropriately. Monitoring and effectively communicating the results of delegations, assignments, or projects
