The Opportunity
The Head Cook is a dynamic and essential leader at the heart of the Community Centre! You will oversee the bustling commercial kitchen, crafting delicious meals for a vibrant Monday-to-Friday service, including breakfast, lunch, and morning/afternoon teas. With creativity and skill, you will play a key role in nourishing the community and making every dining experience unforgettable!
Reporting to the Supervisor Citiplace Community Centre, your responsibilities would primarily include:
- Manage a commercial kitchen preparing food for service of breakfast, lunch and morning/afternoon teas, plus special events and outside catering;
- Devise and cost menus with due regard to nutrition, budget, availability, seasonality, and patron appeal;
- Supervise a team including paid staff, volunteers and students to deliver a high standard of customer service, including counter and table service and accurate operation of a Point of Sale/EFTPOS system; and
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas and with equipment.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in varied food preparation for large numbers of people;
- Relevant Hospitality/Catering qualification;
- Sound organisational and time management skills;
- Demonstrated ability to relate to customers and motivate a team; and
- Excellent menu planning and costing skills.
