About the Role

The Financial Accountant role is a hybrid position offering the opportunity to work in a stable yet demanding environment. As a key member of the finance team, you will support the Finance Manager and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards while delivering efficient financial reporting

This permanent role will contribute to the company’s financial success through effective reporting, process improvements, and support of operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing statutory accounts, supporting documentation for audits, and other financial information as needed.
• Reconciliations: Oversee reconciliations, monitor ledger accounts, and ensure timely processing of accruals and period-end journals.
• Compliance: Lead preparation of GST, payroll tax, FBT, royalties, ABS surveys, and other compliance returns.
• Asset Management: Maintain the asset register for financial accounting and taxation purposes.
• Taxation: Prepare income tax returns and assist with ongoing tax compliance.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and implement finance best practices.
• Ad Hoc Projects: Support additional financial and operational initiatives as required.

Qualifications and Skills Essential:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
• CA or CPA qualified (or close to completion)
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and IFRS standards
• Previous experience in the mining, energy, or oil and gas industry (desirable but not essential)
• Fluent written & verbal Mandarin
