Our Client is a long-standing and highly regarded privately owned civil contractor. They have been in operation for over 25 years delivering design and construct civil projects in value from $200,000 – $3.5M.  Current turnover is $20M with that projected to increase significantly over the next 5 years.

The role will report directly into the General Manager and will form part of the senior management team. This role will have you managing a small team too.  

  

The role and responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and review the overall accounting task of the business
  • Manage report on and forecast the cash requirements of the business
  • Preparing monthly financial management reports
  • Management of financial obligations (leases etc)
  • Liaison with project teams
  • Management of AP/AR staff
  • Individual job costings analysis
  • Variations management/changes for each project
  • Liaison with external accountant
  • Management of BAS, FBT, IAS payments, payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG withholding tax and work cover
  • Payroll preparation including superannuation payments
  • Budget preparation and review, forecasting and cash flow reports
  • Ongoing staff training and development

To be considered for this role, youll ideally have the following experience:

  • Degree qualified Accountant with CA/CPA Qualifications or equivalent
  • 4 years Financial experience in a similar role
  • Experience using a broad range of accounting and ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills, able to work with pivot tables and lookups.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A working knowledge of Xero
  • Sound knowledge of the Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in human resources and payroll
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Australian Drivers license

Previous construction or civil industry experience will be reviewed favourably.

In return the successful candidate will receive a permanent job offer from a stable contractor with a positive culture.  Salary will vary depending on previous experience with a range of $150,000 – $180,000 total package.
