About the Role:
We are seeking a Family Violence Practitioner in a 24/7 high security refuge for women and children. You will complete comprehensive intake, risk and safety assessments and provide wrap-around case management to support women and children in areas of income, housing, education, health, AOD, the law and other issues that may arise and make the appropriate referrals to external services and resources. The position is 0.8-Full-time on an ongoing contract, offering flexible hours where possible. The position is offereing $97k – $101k plus benefits. The refuge is located in Whittlesea Council area and requires you to work onsite.
Key Duties:
- Deliver intake, complete risk assessment and safety planning in line with the MARAM framework and provide support and information to women and children.
- Commit to provision of a child safety environment and promoting the ongoing wellbeing of children.
- Liaise and act as an advocate for women and children, when necessary, in their dealings with external agencies and organisations.
- Develop a case plan in consultation with the woman and children, and to work effectively on their plan to achieve goals within a time frame.
- Provide family violence information sharing and children information sharing with external services where it is needed and appropriate.
- Participate on the on-call roster as required
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related field
- 3 years’ experience working in a Family Violence Program
- Understanding of family violence theoretical frameworks and interventions
- MARAM training
- Thorough understanding of child development and the issues that vulnerable children, young people and families face, including sound knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act .
