Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Family Support Worker specifically for waking night shifts, at our Karratha location. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a casual position with part-time and full-time hours available depending on applicant’s preference.
This role requires the ability to work waking night shifts (10PM – 7AM)
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 3.
You will successfully
- Clients accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed.
- Adherence to the Family Violence Stream vision, mission, and values and that of TSA and contributes to a collaborative approach to service delivery and improvement.
- Works under the general direction of the Team Leaders, and the Program Manager and adheres to established work practices whilst exercising initiative and judgement where practices and direction are not clearly defined.
- Service gaps are identified and recommendations for service delivery improvements are made to the Team Leaders, and Program Manager. Including individual and/or team challenges and learning needs.
- In consultation with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high-risk situations.
- Information and support is provided to assist in assessing and addressing client issues, needs, and circumstances.
- Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and to improve their wellbeing and safety.
You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)
Essential
- Experience in a community service setting.
- Strong time management skills with an ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Computer skills.
- A national police record check
- Relevant state Working with Children Check
- WA Drivers Licence.
Preferred but not essential
- Qualification in Support Work, Community Services or related field or experience in community services setting.
- Possess current Apply First Aid and CPR qualification.
